I'm sure there are as many reasons why people undertook this trip as there were people participating; I went along to keep company with my Maggie. I have no intention of going into the ins and outs of the trek, you all have your own particular memories and probably things you would rather forget, my own personal regret was that we had a good old fashioned British Know-it-all with us. However, the trip on the whole from my point of view was a complete success. This I believe was down to the excellent hospitality shown by our American Hosts, to whom I cannot extol enough thanks and gratitude. Everybody involved made the trip a brilliant experience, but I would like to say a special thank you to Sandy, without whose domestic talents, I don't believe any of us would have been able to march on�..
I have no doubt that for many the high-light of the trip was the arrival of Bill Bryson, without whose book the trip would not have been created, for me it was inspiration to go on to even more adventures, the seeds have been sown and plans are underway for myself and a close friend to return to America and walk the hundred mile wilderness or possibly even start walking sections of the Appalachian Trail over the coming years, I really don't know when, but oneday I shall return to do some serious walking��
